I was lucky enough to discover Ashland University's Master of American History and Government program by accident. I was looking for interesting and affordable professional development opportunities for the summer, and came across the application for Ashland's Teaching American History (TAH) grant. I submitted my information and was happy to be chosen to attend. I traveled to Ashland that summer to participate in The American Presidency II, and while learning about Franklin Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan, and other presidents from the post-Civil War era, I fell in love with the program. It was the beginning of an 11-year odyssey, but one that truly changed me - and my teaching - for the better.
